The Courtyard

‘The Courtyard’ was a project based on interviews with three of our neighbours talking about the experience of living in our block and shared courtyard during the Covid lockdowns. Lizzy cut up and rearranged the interview dialogue to create a found poem.

For the podcast episode David edited the interview recordings into an audio collage to match Lizzy’s rearranged dialogue, combining it with a reading by Lizzy. This was laid over a soundscape recorded in and around the block and courtyard.

To accompany the podcast episode we made a fold-out ‘broadsheet’ print featuring the rearranged dialogue, handwritten in ink by Lizzy. The print was 580mm x 580mm in size, folded down to a 150mm x 150mm square, and presented in a handmade card sleeve.

This episode was included in the E17 Art Trail in 2021.
